Nonprofit Prince George’s County strongly supports our County’s nonprofit sector in their efforts to build capacity and become recognized or accredited through the Standards for Excellence (SFE) code. The Standards provide a framework and guidelines to achieve a well-managed and responsibly governed nonprofit. This voluntary accreditation process aims to raise the level of accountability and effectiveness of nonprofits.

 

This is a key initiative for NONPROFIT PGC and includes training, technical assistance and coaching. These services are provided FREE TO MEMBERS by a licensed consultant. For the past 2 years, Prince George's County has led the State in having the largest number of nonprofits approved through the SFE Institute.

The Standards for Excellence Institute®, a project of Maryland Nonprofits, is a national initiative established to promote the highest standards of ethics, effectiveness, and accountability in nonprofit governance, management, and operations, and to help all nonprofit organizations meet these high benchmarks. The centerpiece of the Institute’s program is the Standards for Excellence®: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector.
